Still severe drought conditions in Southeast Colorado for late July

A new U.S. drought monitor map has been released and even with the rain storms last week, conditions have remained largely the same. There are less “extreme” drought areas in Las Animas, Prowers and Baca Counties which is a slight, yet positive change from late May and early June.

The conditions in Bent County have eased in the past month with the “exceptional” drought conditions centered in western Kiowa County around Haswell, CO.
