WASHINGTON — The weekend terror attack in London shows that the free world “is at war with Islamic horror,” says a Republican congressman, adding that “radicalized Islamic suspects” should be hunted down and killed.
Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana wrote Sunday in a Facebook post: “Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all.”
Higgins, a former sheriff’s captain known as the “Cajun John Wayne,” was elected to Congress last year representing southwest and south central Louisiana.
In a Facebook post in which he is identified as “Captain Clay Higgins,” the freshman lawmaker decried the van and knife attack near London Bridge that left seven people dead. One of the men believed to have carried out the attack in central London was a known radical Islamist who was filmed unfurling a black flag resembling the one used by the Islamic State group, and had raised the suspicion of a neighbor after allegedly trying to lure local youngsters to join his jihadist campaign.
“The free world … all of Christendom … is at war with Islamic horror,” Higgins wrote. “Not one penny of American treasure should be granted to any nation who harbors these heathen animals. Not a single radicalized Islamic suspect should be granted any measure of quarter. Their intended entry to the American homeland should be summarily denied. Every conceivable measure should be engaged to hunt them down. Hunt them, identify them, and kill them. Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all.”
In a statement late Monday, Higgins said he has “never been accused of being politically correct,” adding: “I call things the way I see them. The meaning of candid speech is frequently mischaracterized or misunderstood. This is about prioritizing national security and protecting American lives.”
Every measure should be taken to “eliminate radical Islamic terrorism and the threat it poses to the free world,” he added. “My only concern is protecting the people that live in my district, my state and my country. … The fate of the free world will be determined by the courageous, not by the intimidated.”
