Last week, High Times announced that their Cannabis Cup was headed away from Denver to Pueblo but High Times didn’t say where the event would be held.
It now looks like the Bands in the Backyard, a country music festival held 10 minutes from downtown Pueblo along Highway 50, will host the venue if permitted. Tommy G Productions, which puts on the country music festival, originally submitted the application for the cannabis festival.
In a comment released to PULP by Pueblo County’s Community Information Officer, Paris Carmichael, the county and event organizers are reviewing and amending the permit for review.
“Pueblo County Planning & Development Department received a Special Event Permit application by Tommy G Productions for an event beginning on Wednesday, April 16, 2016 and ending on Sunday, April 20, 2016. On Monday, February 22, 2016, when the Pueblo County Planning & Development Office learned that Tommy G Productions was not the event promoter, P&D asked that the application be revised and portions of the application be re-submitted by the true applicant High Times.”
Carmichael did give any indication if the permit would be approved or denied by the county — only that a special event permit was received by the county.
