Natural Building

NaturalBldg_sept10

Early last summer I met an Australian man who was attending a three-month natural building apprenticeship in northern California. Quite a few words exited his mouth that didn't quite make sense: "cob ovens," "rammed earth walls," "earthen floors" and "strawbale construction." I didn't know what the hell he was talking about half the time, but I knew that I wanted to give natural building a try.

Over The River: An Update

July 2010

otrsmall

In 2013, Colorado could be hosting a captivating and unique art experience. Over the River by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude was started in 1992. Jeanne-Claude's passing has not stopped Christo from moving forward on the Over The River project involving the Arkansas River. Over The River is a project that will showcase the beauty of the Arkansas River in a series of fabric panels to be suspended high above the water of the river. In May, Christo hosted two receptions in Colorado, to show his support and appreciation for the efforts of the Friends of Over The River, a grass roots organization. Christo continues to push forward with the project as his wife and creative partner, Jeanne-Claude, would have wanted. There is much work still to be done before the project can be exhibited to the public.
